THE GIGAJOE.
The JOERG-I™ (J.O.E.®
Receiver Group Improved) is a unique amalgamation of features from our product
range, the purpose of which was to create the penultimate J.O.E.® Carbine.
These features include our new Gen 3 GLC™ lower receiver with an ambidextrous
bolt catch and release lever, hard-chrome plated M4P™ BCG, chrome-lined 14.5”
SOCOM-profile barrel, 2-Stage Match FCG, an intermediate (A5) buffer system, and
a super highly lubricious Micro Slick dry film lube coating on the receiver set
and critical action components. Is it “clone correct”? Not even a little. Is it a solidly dependable rifle that punches above its weight? Absolutely.
UPPER RECEIVER
The beating heart of your rifle
is the upper receiver. For detailed info on our M4 receiver, click here.
The JOERGI™ comes standard with
our new 14.5” JOECOM™ barrel. It is turned to an enhanced SOCOM profile from
quality 4150CMV blanks per MIL-B-11995-E. While this profile is notably heavier
than a standard Government profile, the additional material behind the gas
block journal supports the chamber better, improves rigidity, and increases heat
dispersion. The bore and chamber are both chrome-lined for corrosion, heat, and
erosion resistance. Altogether, the complete package will last longer in the
macro and maintain peak accuracy longer in the micro before you will see
noticeable shifts on account of heat build-up from sustained strings of fire.
Much like the true blue URG-I
fielded by SOCOM, the JOERGI™ is designed with suppressors in mind. The 0.076”
gas port is a happy 50/50 middle-ground for reliable function with and without
a suppressor. Unlike the more common 0.080-0.082” ports in the civilian market,
this more conservative gas port significantly reduces issues arising from the
increased back pressure incurred by using a suppressor like hastened component
wear and the dreaded double-feed. The fixed low-profile gas block is timed to
the barrel with two dimples drilled into the barrel and secured by
cross-drilling and pinning the assembly together with a high-strength taper
pin. Capping off the barrel assembly is your choice of pinned and welded muzzle
device.
One of the upgrades over the
standard J.O.E.® Carbine is the inclusion of our M4P™ Bolt Carrier Group (BCG).
This assembly starts with a full-mass, heat-treated 8620 carrier with a
MIL-spec 4130 gas key that is sealed with high-temp gasket compound and secured
in place with staked Grade-8 OCKS fasteners from Michiguns. The bolt head is
machined from time-honored, MIL-spec Carpenter No. 158 alloy, precision ground,
and High-Pressure Tested (HP) and Magnetic Particle Inspected (MP). Each bolt
head is also individually marked with a unique QC number that ties it to the
barrel with which it is paired. The cold-drawn, 4130 extractor is shot-peened
for durability and comes standard with a Sprinco® XP-5 5-coil spring. Likewise,
the S7 tool steel ejector is driven by a Sprinco® enhanced ejector spring.
These springs are cryogenically relieved and Moly-coated for a stupendously
long service life of 25,000 rounds or more. In other words, this set of springs
will outlast any of the other wear components within the assembly. Lastly, the
firing pin is machined from 8740 alloy, shot-peened for durability, and
chrome-plated for corrosion resistance. The hard-chrome plating on the carrier,
bolt head, and gas key all work in tandem with the Micro Slick DFL coating on
the upper receiver and body of the Radian™ Raptor-LT™ charging handle for
smooth function in dry and/or abrasive conditions.
Rounding out the upper receiver
is a modular, free-floating ASAL rail with a continuous 1913 Picatinny top rail
and 5 full-length sections of M-LOK® rail for all your attachment needs. The
taper interface of these rails does an excellent job at keeping everything
locked up and in-line for reliable zero retention with back-up iron sights and
laser aiming devices. Type III Hardcoat Anodized in a fashionable MDC Brown
coloration to complete the look.
LOWER RECEIVER
The bottom half of the assembly
is built on our new Gen 3 GLC™ lower receiver. In most regards, it is a high-quality
forged MIL-spec receiver with the notable exception of a modern ambidextrous bolt
catch and release mechanism. On the outside is a GI-style 90-degree
ambidextrous selector that delivers smooth, positive engagement and maintains
reliable option in the “FIRE” position and predictable safety in the “SAFE”
position. The JOERG-I™ is configurable by you to have a set of Magpul®, B5
Systems, or BCM® GUNFIGHTER™ furniture out of the box.
Popping primers is our Two-Stage
Match fire control group. Utilizing full-power springs, it delivers a
significant improvement to the trigger pull when compared to a USGI FCG without
compromising reliable primer ignition. The 2-lbs take-up stage leads into a
consistent and clean wall that gives way to a 2.5-lbs break.
On the back end is a 9-position, intermediate-length
receiver extension machined from impact extruded 7075-T6 Aluminum. Like the
receiver set, it is coated inside and out in the Micro Slick DFL applique. The
extension is torqued down to TDP-spec 40 lbs-ft and secured in place with a
double-staked QD endplate. Inside the buffer tube is an A5H1 buffer assembly
paired with a Sprinco® "Green" rifle buffer spring. In combination with the
mid-length gas system, this buffer system delivers a smooth recoil impulse and
improved timing for feeding from the magazine.
WARRANTY
As with all our firearms, every
component is inspected and assembled by procedure before the complete firearm
is test fired with live ammunition. It is our guarantee that they walk as well
as they talk. So, should you encounter any issues arising from component
selection or assembly error, we will fix it under the provisions of our FYS
Limited Lifetime Guarantee. The upper receiver, barrel, and bolt head are
all individually engraved with matching numbers noted on a certificate of
authenticity that ships with your rifle for QC during the assembly process and
down the line should you need work done on your rifle.
